Path Finder Program

Contact VCG about our next virtual session.
The VCG now offers its members a unique opportunity to participate in its Path Finder Program. This program is designed to teach all participants the power of the VCG’s Business Process Transformation Framework which enables best in class Business Process Management initiatives within industry.
To facilitate your learnings, VCG will provide access to the Value Chain ICIM Architect application designed to capitalize on the VCG Framework & Methodology.
The VCG' Path Finder offers an industry derived framework and a proven methodology that gives businesses the tools and a pathway to capture processes in a model based environment and establish the ability to analyze its process work and prioritize process improvement initiatives.

Participants will be able to achieve ICIM Certification in the Levels of the Integrated Continuous Improvement Methodology through the Path Finder Program. Sessions will be be delivered virtually, recorded and archived. It is possible to schedule private virtual, or in-house programs.
Level 1 - Framework & Process Design Principles
Level 1 - Framework & Process Design Principles
Level 2 - Process Analysis & Change Planning
Level 3 - IT Solution Initiatives
Level 4 - Model Driven Architecture
The VCG has assembled a team of experts who will guide program participants through the ICIM. Follow this link to find out more about our ICIM Instructors.

For each class, teams of between 10-20 participants will be established. This will ensure healthy team interaction and focused trainer support. Participants will receive a copy of all Level 1 course materials, full access to ICIM Architect, access to recorded sessions archive and, upon completion, a Level 1 Certificate and your name placed on the VCG website. VCG offers a Private Path Finder Program that will utilize already captured process documentation. Contact scott.palmer@value-chain.org for more information.
Level 1 Program Topics - See the full agenda for session details
ICIM Methodology Introduction - 2 two hour sessions - In this segment you will learn about the methodology for modeling and analyzing enterprise processes by applying a standard reference model to establish normalized process definitions that accelerate a shared understanding and consensus. The workshop will present a disciplined and structured methodology supporting the Value Reference Models.
Interface Training
- 2 two hour sessions - In this session you will be introduced to the ICIM Architect. This fully configurable interface is used for Modeling Value Streams within a Semantic Framework: Determining the scope; assigning process elements; determining dependencies; and assigning model elements such as roles, metrics, and resources. Participants will use the ICIM Architect for all remaining sessions.Project Scoping - 1 two hour session - Participants will examine the techniques for scoping a VRM project; Anecdotal, Pull and Focal. A case study will be use to establish a Value Stream scenario for use in the process design session.
Process Design - 1 two hour session - Using the case example from the previous session, participants will examine the practical application of ICIM process design elements: dependencies, metrics, technologies, issues and rules.
Level 2 Program Topics - Separate schdule and pricing applies
Priority Dimensions - 1 one hour session - Based on a case example we will established VRM priority dimensions. This will determine the design criteria for the "To Be" process. A master metric list will be established and filtered to provide candidate metrics for the creation of a ValueCard.
ValueCard Creation - 2 one hour sessions - The purpose of the ValueCard is to establish the criteria for measuring the effectiveness of the process and guiding design tradeoffs and prioritization of changes. In the first session an example will be used to illustrate the concept, composition and purpose of a balanced ValueCard. The second session will review the ValueCards created by the participants.
ValueStream Analysis - 1 two hour session - a case example will be used to examine the following analysis techniques; Structural analysis of gaps - bottlenecks and iterations - Cycle time analysis - Benchmarking - Scenario comparisons - Report generation - Conclusions and Recommendations.
PACOMS - 1 two hour session - In this session will examine use of the PACOMs (Process, Automation, Culture, Organization, Metric change requirements) that will develop consensus on root causes of process under performance. A case example will be provided to illustrate the application of this technique.
Level 3 Program Topics - Separate schedule and pricing applies
System Function Dictionary - 2 two hour sessions - In this session participants will examine the structure and use of System Function Dictionaries; Normalizing Elements for IT deployment modeling; Input/Output for Master Data Convergence, preserving semantic integrity of Value Chain and Deployment Models.
Solution Deployment - 1 two hour session - In this session the group will examine a case example of developing an initiative charter: scoping based within context of the business process design; adding and substituting process; breakdown process change requirements into actions and work packages; and initiative resources assignments.
Level 4 Program Topics - Separate schedule and pricing applies
Model Driven Enterprise Architecture - 1 two hour session - In this session we discuss deploying processes in a model driven environment supported by SOA enabled technologies.
Framework Governance
- 2 two hour sessions - In this session the group will explore roles and responsibilities of governing the BPTF framework within an organization. The following items will be covered: Dictionary Management, Change Procedures, Model Creation, Roles and Responsibilities.
