IDS Scheer Adopts Value Reference Model (VRM) for Enterprise-Wide Support Using ARIS Platform |
|
BERLIN (June 13, 2007) – IDS Scheer, the leading provider of Business Process Management (BPM), today announced at ARIS ProcessWorld 2007 Europe that the ARIS Platform now fully supports the Value Reference Model (VRM). VRM (formerly VCOR), developed by the Value Chain Group (VCG), has been used by practitioners for over three years to help identify and improve the full spectrum of business operations required for the design, manufacture, delivery and support of products. This reference model accelerates business improvements by providing a validated reference set of measurements, processes and best practices. “We are pleased that IDS Scheer recognizes the importance of VRM and the potential to drive the value chains for its ARIS Platform global customer base,” said Scott Palmer, CEO, Value Chain Group. “We look forward to working in tandem with IDS Scheer to support the widespread adoption of VRM.” The Value Chain Group, Inc. is an independent, not-for-profit, global organization with membership open to corporations, academia, research institutions and governmental offices. The VCG’s mission is to be the first resource used by Practitioners for Value Chain, Product Chain and Design Chain network improvement and implementation. “Adopting VRM is yet another validation of our Open BPM strategy and the ‘openness’ of the ARIS Platform to address all the key industry standards,” said Dr. Mathias Kirchmer, Chief Innovation & Marketing Officer at IDS Scheer. “Combining tools and content, mapped to a common repository, closes the gap between business and technical standards. Integrating VRM into this strategy reinforces the need for organizations to consider the ‘business’ component of BPM, instead of focusing only on the technical side of BPM.” “IDS Scheer is pleased to leverage the power of this business standard to enable our customers to fully describe their value chains and measure best practices and KPIs,” said Trevor Naidoo, Director, ARIS Solution Engineering, IDS Scheer. “Our proven track record with standards includes the adoption of SCOR, ITIL and enhanced Telecom Operations Map, all available for customers using the ARIS Platform.”
The VRM provides a common terminology and standard process descriptions to organize and understand value chain activities. It contains fully connected inputs and outputs to/from every activity, a metrics glossary, benchmarks and a collection of suggested practices. By configuring a VRM scenario, organizations see their entire value chain in a form that can be compared with other companies across multiple industries. The model also helps companies use benchmarking and best-practice information to prioritize their improvements, quantify the benefits of implementing change and pursue specific competitive advantages discovered in the process.
