VCG Workshop
The Value Chain Group offers an on site two-day hands-on workshop where you will learn about a methodology for modeling and analyzing enterprise processes by applying a standard reference model to establish normalized process definitions that accelerate a shared understanding and consensus.
The methodology, which has already been deployed at several leading Fortune 500 companies, has yielded significant improvements in development cycle times, time-to-market, and time-to-margin. The workshop will present a disciplined and structured methodology supporting operational reference models across the value chain. You will be introduced to the Value Reference Model (VRM) that can accelerate any program, and will hear real-world use cases documenting the payoffs.

Principles of Value Stream Mapping: Value streaming: how do we know we are adding value for the end user? - Lean Thinking: how can we isolate waste in the value stream, and assess the impact on performance? - Six Sigma: what drives variability in a value stream? What drives cycle time? How can we assess different value stream designs? Systems Engineering: how do we determine the critical dependencies for a high fidelity process design backed by a highly credible analysis? - Principles of Semantic Frameworks - Taxonomy of processes - Class model of a normalized dictionary - Standardized terminology of class elements - Working with multiple dictionaries - Mapping to technology Modeling Value Streams within a Semantic Framework: Determining the scope - Assigning process elements - Determining dependencies - Assigning model elements such as roles, metrics, and resources Analyzing Value Streams: Structural analysis of gaps, bottlenecks, and iterations - Cycle time analysis - Benchmarking - Scenario comparisons - Report generation Managing Initiatives to Improve the Value Chain: Governance - Facilitation techniques - Consensus building - Process, Automation, Culture, Organization, Metrics (PACOM) change management- Transformation Roadmaps - Continuous improvement |
